چکیده
Synthesis of biodiesel from various plant oils is realized by the transesterification triglycerides with methanol or a reaction usually defined as methanolysis. The usage low-quality oils, such waste cooking oil (WCO), followed undesirable side reactions result increased content free fatty acids (FFA), and water. presence FFA in WCO requires pretreatment stage before subjecting it to In present work, heterogeneously catalyzed methanolysis without was investigated. Removal conducted using only quicklime addition small amount (FFA = 1:3 molar ratio). obtained results showed that at 30 ?C after 1 h reduces 72 %, while adsorption capacity determined be 910 mg g-1. adsorptive pretreatment, simple operation, low-cost under mild conditions, had positive effect on rate CaO?ZnO catalyst, enabling achievement over 96 % yield 15 min, compared pretreatment. Furthermore, pretreated allows an increase repeated catalyst use overall savings necessary catalyst. study economic, environmental-friendly, sustainable material for removal WCO.

Crystallization Behavior of Fatty Acid Methyl Esters
Biodiesel from most agricultural feedstocks has flow properties that are prone to startup and operability problems during cold weather. Biodiesel from soybean oil is generally a mixture of long-chain fatty acid alkyl esters composed of 0.15–0.20 mass fraction saturated esters (melting point [MP] 0 C) mixed with unsaturated esters (MP \ 0 C). This work investigates the crystallization properties...
متن کاملUtilization of crude karanj (Pongamia pinnata) oil as a potential feedstock for the synthesis of fatty acid methyl esters.
Methyl esters were synthesized from crude karanj oil (CKO) by single step esterification with methanol using sulfuric acid (H(2)SO(4)) and phosphoric acid (H(3)PO(4)) as catalysts in a homogeneous batch process. H(3)PO(4) was less active than H(2)SO(4) during the process as it presented very low ester yields (<20%) for the various molar ratios of fatty acid to alcohol studied. With H(2)SO(4) as...
متن کاملPreparation of fatty acid methyl esters for gas-liquid chromatography.
A convenient method using commercial aqueous concentrated HCl (conc. HCl; 35%, w/w) as an acid catalyst was developed for preparation of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) from sterol esters, triacylglycerols, phospholipids, and FFAs for gas-liquid chromatography (GC). An 8% (w/v) solution of HCl in methanol/water (85:15, v/v) was prepared by diluting 9.7 ml of conc. HCl with 41.5 ml of methanol....
متن کاملEnzymatic Synthesis of Sugar Fatty Acid Esters
Enzymatic synthesis of sugar fatty acid esters was performed in an organic solvent using an immobilized Candida antartica lipase and various sugars and oleic acid as substrates. A high solubility of the sugar in the solvent was needed for a high sugar ester yield. Among the sugars and solvents tested in this study, the highest yield (98 %) was obtained when xylitol and 2-methyl 2-butanol were u...
متن کاملBioremediation of cooking oil waste using lipases from wastes
Cooking oil waste leads to well-known environmental impacts and its bioremediation by lipase-based enzymatic activity can minimize the high cytotoxic potential. In addition, they are among the biocatalysts most commercialized worldwide due to the versatility of reactions and substrates. However, although lipases are able to process cooking oil wastes, the products generated from this process do...
